Today I am joined by Heather Dawn (and no, we are not related), a Certified Clinical Nutritionist and the founder ofConscious Nutrition. Her mission is to help provide a solid foundation to teach others how to nourish themselves with their food. Heather is a recovering Type-A nutritionist seeking perfection, only to realize the body is brilliant, and we just have to learn how to listen.
Our relationship with food can be quite complicated. Like any relationship, it can contain limiting beliefs, judgments, and habits that can hold us back from being the healthiest version of ourselves. Many of us have an emotional attachment to food, making it so difficult to restrict ourselves or follow deprivation diets. Taking a deeper look at our food habits can serve as a gateway into looking deeper within ourselves. Are we using food to numb out? Are we using food to fill a void? Are we using food because we have a scarcity mindset? Are we using food to avoid unresolved emotions?
In order to use food to feel good about ourselves, we need to take a closer look at our eating habits, not just what we are putting in our bodies but also why.
